Application provides control over benefit and reintegration costs

According to the WW (Unemployment Insurance Act), government and educational institutions are self-insurers. This means they don’t pay contributions for unemployment benefits (“WW-premie”) – they are responsible for paying unemployment benefits if an employee loses their job, as well for reintegrating former employees. In addition to being a significant financial burden, this double task also results in a lot of administrative work. With the new WW Tool, it’s easier to manage and control benefit and reintegration costs.

About SZ Tools

SZ Tools was founded by Frank Schuitema and Marlien Schuitema in 2019. As both founders have worked in the education and public sector for years, they possess in-depth knowledge and experience of matters related to WW (Unemployment Insurance Act), ZW (Health Insurance Act), and WGA (Return to Work (Partially Disabled) Regulations). SZ Tools was established to address the needs that existed among government and educational institutions. In the same year, SZ Tools and Way2Web joined forces to develop a full-fledged client tracking system.

Data not centrally available

Benefits and reintegration data on former employees is not centrally available. It’s often stored in various systems. Each institution has its own way of working. They often use separate Excel imports and Excel reporting tools, which is why managing benefits is a very labor-intensive task. They don’t have enough time for reintegration. As a result, people claim benefits for a longer period of time.

Innovative client tracking system for accurate prognoses

Together with Way2Web Software, SZ Tools is developing an innovative application to solve this problem in its entirety. Using a reliable, efficient client tracking system, self-insurers can predict and manage benefits costs and manage reintegration.

At a single glance, the customer gains insight into benefit data and costs – at the organizational, departmental, and employee level. Thanks to 4 standard reporting options (more extensive reports are available but optional), the user can easily create well-organized management reports in a few clicks.

High security and reliability requirements

The WW Tool imports real-time data from the UWV Employer Portal and combines it with existing personal and benefits data. The application reads in and mutates benefits data, processing personal data such as citizen service numbers and personal details. This places high demands on the security of the application.

WW Tool users include:

  • Financial assistants (financial forecast and realization)
  • Reintegration assistants (management and reintegration paths)
  • Administrative assistants (importing data and archive)
  • SZ Tools back-office employees (application management)

The WW Tool meets the highest security requirements and ISO standards, so personal data can be processed and used in a secure way.

Every organization has its own business environment in which users are organized based on roles, so they can only view their own data. Depending on the chosen sector (e.g. senior secondary vocational education or higher professional education), other settings may be selected.

Real SaaS application, gradual expansion

This is a real SaaS application – you can independently request an online demo and become a customer, after which you can immediately use the tool. An onboarding flow has been set up, importing is done automatically, and the service desk is available if you have any questions.

We started with unemployment benefits and so-called extra-statutory benefits. After that, SZ Tools will also facilitate benefits under the ZW (Health Insurance Act) and WGA (Return to Work (Partially Disabled) Regulations).

In the next phase, extra functionalities will be added, including more management reports, integration with a BI tool, file management extension, and the possibility to adjust imported data in the course of the process. On top of that, we constantly work on improvements based on feedback provided by committed users.
